Shannon here-
Well, yesterday was just an altogether interesting day! We saw dinosaurs eating confederate soldiers, were scared silly by what we thought was going to be a cheesy haunted house (it was not!), and we saw foamhenge (it is what it sounds like--a foam statue of stone henge). Then we got back in the car and took the 3 hour trip down here to ST. Paul, Virginia. We met Anita and Jerry Boyd who are the overseers down here at the grace house. They are very nice. We got our assignments and our rules and we were off to make dinner. Delicious Turkey Chili and cornbread (shout-out to the outreach committee). Then we got settled. Girls have the bigger cabin that has 2 bathrooms (win!) and boys are in the smaller adjoining cabin. There is a volleyball net, a basketball hoop, hiking trails, hammocks, a fire pit, and many other fun things right here at camp. The beds are comfortable and for the most part we had a good night sleep. It is early monday morning and we are about to head out to our project. We heard we will be painting ceilings and building an 8x10 deck at a house. The family we will be with are the Hills. Mrs.Hill and her 12-year-old son need our help so we are here! We are all so excited to begin working! We will blog about our experiences later :)
shannon out.
p.s- we all have cell phone service in parts of the camps and we have wifi so we will be posting continuously as the week goes by.
p.p.s- The time on this blog is 3 hours delayed, so to find the real time we blogged subtract 3 hours :)
It is thrilling to read your posts and know what's happening in almost real time. Thx so much for including us. I will tell the outreach committee how much you enjoyed dinner last night. And that fire pit should be magical for you! If I were there I would lead kum ba yah... as it is, Lucas will have to do it...;) Get lots of good satisfying work done today. You will be such a blessing to Mrs. Hill and her son. Enjoy! In Christ, MLA
